About The Position

The Department of Neurosurgery is seeking outstanding scientists for a tenure-track position at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level. The ideal candidate will focus on human cognition using invasive and/or non-invasive neuromodulation techniques such as DBS, SEEG/ECoG, TMS/tDCS, and FUS, along with electrophysiology (intracranial, EEG/MEG) or neuroimaging, employing strong quantitative/computational approaches. Special interest lies in research that advances the mechanistic understanding and treatment of cognitive dysfunction, with potential focus areas including executive control, learning & decision-making, attention & arousal, memory systems, language & higher cognition, and affective-cognitive interactions. Translational goals aligning with campus strengths, such as Parkinson's disease, epilepsy, OCD/depression, Tourette/dystonia, TBI/stroke, MCI/Alzheimer’s, addiction, and anxiety/PTSD, are also encouraged, particularly those emphasizing cognitive endpoints, biomarkers, and closed-loop strategies. The role involves investigating neural mechanisms of cognitive, affective, or decision processes in humans through behavioral tasks, signal processing, and computational modeling. Collaboration across the Anschutz Medical Campus in neurosurgery, neurology, psychiatry, biomedical engineering, and imaging is expected. Successful applicants will lead a vigorous, externally funded research program and participate in professional and graduate teaching.
