About The Position

The Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) department at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) seeks applicants for a Professor of Practice position in the Systems Engineering Program. This is a full-time, non-tenure-track faculty position designed for individuals who bring substantial, current professional or industry expertise into the classroom and project advising. This position emphasizes high-quality teaching and project advising, practice-oriented education, and contributions grounded in real-world professional experience. Responsibilities for this position include teaching primarily online, asynchronous graduate courses, conducting research, and advising students at the M.S. and Ph.D. levels with research closely coupled with industry applications. Additional responsibilities include actively participating in committee assignments and other service activities that connect the Systems Engineering Program to the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department as well as the rest of the campus.

Requirements

  • An earned Ph.D. in Systems Engineering or a related engineering discipline
  • Strong research experience in the general areas of systems engineering, but not limited to: systems thinking, system modeling, complex systems, risk management, system safety, security and reliability
  • Ability to contribute to the teaching mission of the department, especially for the graduate degree programs in Systems Engineering
