About The Position

The Department of Industrial, Manufacturing, and Systems Engineering at The University of Texas at Arlington is seeking to hire an open-rank Academic Professional Track teaching faculty member at the Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Instruction levels. This is a full-time, non-tenure track position starting in Fall 2026. The successful candidate will focus on teaching undergraduate and graduate Industrial Engineering courses, contributing to curriculum development, student success, and departmental service. The rank will be determined by the candidate's qualifications and experience.

Requirements

  • Earned Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering or a closely related field by the appointment date.
  • Demonstrated ability or strong potential to teach undergraduate and graduate Industrial Engineering courses effectively.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability and willingness to contribute to teaching-related service, curriculum development, student mentoring or advising, and program assessment activities.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior college-level teaching experience in Industrial Engineering, engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • Experience teaching or developing IE courses in areas such as data analysis, computer applications, spreadsheet modeling, programming, databases, engineering economy, operations research, systems engineering, logistics, manufacturing, human factors, engineering statistics, optimization, or engineering management.
  • Evidence of effective teaching (e.g., teaching evaluations, peer observations, teaching awards, instructional materials, course development).
  • Technical expertise relevant to the Industrial Engineering curriculum.
  • Experience with active learning, project-based learning, course assessment, learning-management systems, open educational resources, or professional/microcredential modules.
  • Professional or industry experience relevant to industrial engineering or engineering practice.
  • Experience with student mentoring, advising, multi-section course coordination, curriculum development, or ABET/program assessment.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate courses in Industrial Engineering and related technical areas, including core, service, laboratory, computing, project-based, or multi-section courses.
  • Develop, update, and assess course materials, assignments, examinations, demonstrations, and learning activities to meet course and program outcomes.
  • Utilize appropriate instructional technologies and learning-management systems for face-to-face, hybrid, or online course delivery.
  • Advise and mentor students, support student learning outside the classroom, and contribute to student success initiatives.
  • Participate in curriculum development, course coordination, program assessment, accreditation activities, and other service duties.
  • Maintain professional knowledge in industrial engineering, engineering education, instructional practices, and relevant software/analytical tools.
