About The Position

Bernard Revel Graduate School of Jewish Studies at Yeshiva University invites applications for a tenure-track Full Professor of Jewish Studies specializing in Geonic and Geniza Studies, with an anticipated start date of August 2nd, 2026. We seek an accomplished scholar of international standing whose research, teaching, and service will advance the intellectual life of the university. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a distinguished and sustained record of scholarly achievement in the area of specialization. The successful candidate will provide leadership in research, teaching, and mentorship at the graduate level, including the supervision of undergraduate Honors theses, master’s theses, and PhD dissertations. We seek a colleague who will contribute actively to shaping the future of Jewish Studies at Yeshiva University through intellectual leadership, program development, and engagement with the broader scholarly community. Joining a robust and collegial faculty with strong engagement in Jewish Studies and related disciplines, the successful candidate will maintain a high-profile scholarly agenda, demonstrate a substantial record of influential publications, and show evidence of sustained contributions to the field. The candidate must understand and be aligned with the unique mission of Yeshiva University. This is an in-person position based at Yeshiva University’s Wilf Campus in Northern Manhattan.

Requirements

  • PhD in Jewish Studies, or a closely related field
  • A distinguished and sustained record of scholarship, including a significant body of peer-reviewed publications and/or books
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels
  • National and/or international recognition in the field

Responsibilities

  • Maintain an internationally recognized program of research and publication
  • Provide excellence in teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels
  • Mentor students and junior faculty, including supervision of dissertations.
  • Contribute to curricular development and potentially interdisciplinary initiatives
  • Play a leadership role within the department, graduate program, and broader university
  • Strengthen and expand the visibility and impact of Geonic and Geniza Studies at Yeshiva University
