About The Position

This position is for an Assistant/Associate Professor in Physician Assistant (PA) Studies on a tenure-track (TT) appointment. The role involves teaching, scholarship, and service, with a focus on personal growth and development as an educator. The ideal candidate will have a sincere desire to teach and learn from students throughout all phases of the curriculum and be involved in professional organizations and educational activities at various levels.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an ARC-PA-accredited PA program.
  • Master’s degree in PA studies or other discipline.
  • Current NCCPA certification.
  • State licensure in California (or eligible for state license).
  • Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience as a Physician Assistant.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of academic experience in Physician Assistant Education.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills, specifically MS Office Suite Programs (i.e. Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and MS Outlook.
  • Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.

Nice To Haves

  • DMSc, PhD, DHSc, or equivalent preferred.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in Physician Assistant Education.
  • Proficiency in Medical Spanish.
  • Desire to teach and learn from students in all phases of the curriculum.
  • Involvement or desire to be involved in professional organizations within the field of specialty.
  • Involvement or desire to participate in professional education beyond the school, on local, state, regional, national, and international levels.
  • Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
  • Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.
