About The Position

West Chester University (WCU), a member of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education, is seeking a Full-time, Tenure-Track, Assistant/Associate Professor of Finance. This position begins in August 2027. WCU is a public, comprehensive institution dedicated to providing high-quality undergraduate education, selected post-baccalaureate and graduate programs, and a variety of educational and cultural resources. The College of Business and Public Management (CBPM), an AACSB accredited school, aims to provide high quality, high value education through excellence in teaching and scholarship, community engagement, interdisciplinary collaboration, and experiential learning. The Department of Economics and Finance prepares students for the global business environment and connects with the local and regional community. The faculty member will teach undergraduate and/or graduate level courses in various modalities (in-person, online, hybrid), utilizing innovative teaching skills and focusing on student learning needs. Collaboration with departmental and college faculty and staff is expected to ensure student success.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Finance or a closely related field from an AACSB accredited program. ABD may be considered if the Doctoral dissertation is successfully completed on or before August 2027.
  • Experience teaching undergraduate level courses.
  • Record of scholarship and research accomplishments.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional work experience in Financial Markets & Institutions.
  • Professional work experience in Financial Planning.
  • Experience using empirical methods including emerging areas such as artificial intelligence, fintech, and/or digital assets in finance.
  • Experience teaching graduate level courses.
  • Experience teaching in various modalities, including online synchronous, online asynchronous, or a hybrid format.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and MBA courses, including electives, principles, and intermediate level courses in Economics & Finance in approved modalities. Additional courses may be assigned based on specialization and department needs, including distance learning.
  • Advise and support student success by maintaining office hours.
  • Conduct scholarly research at an appropriate level for an AACSB accredited school of business, consistent with West Chester University's scholarly academic standards.
  • Present research results at professional meetings and publish in referred journals.
  • Contribute to maintaining the college's AACSB accreditation.
  • Serve the Department and University community through participation in various committees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
