About The Position

This position involves providing patient care services, focusing on Neuropathology, at various University of Miami facilities including UMH, JMH, and SCCC. The role includes performing diagnostic procedures, contributing to multidisciplinary teams, participating in educational activities, and engaging in research. Maintaining high standards of professional service and accurate medical records is essential.

Requirements

M.D. or D.O. degree.
Board Certified or Board eligible in Anatomic Pathology, Clinical Pathology, or both.
Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Florida.
Strong knowledge in Neuropathology.
Ability to enhance communication and relations in a diverse professional work force.
Experience with methods, tools, and measurements for quality improvement using a team-based model.
Knowledge of regulations and standards of JCAHO, CAP, and CLIA.
Ability to work independently and make reliable recommendations and diagnoses.
Knowledge of hospital and service procedures and policies regarding hazardous material management, biohazard exposure, and the use of universal precaution.

Responsibilities

Provide patient care services at UMH, JMH, satellites, SCCC, and satellites, with a focus on Neuropathology.
Perform gross description, take photographs of specimens, conduct tissue sampling, and microscopic examinations of surgical specimens.
Order appropriate ancillary testing and report findings in a timely manner.
Verify coding diagnoses in the computer when applicable.
Perform Frozen Section and Rapid On-Site diagnoses in a timely manner.
Perform and report brain autopsies in a timely manner.
Provide 24-hour call coverage according to assigned subspecialty.
Participate and contribute to multidisciplinary tumor boards and site disease group meetings.
Participate in educational activities for pathology residents, fellows, and medical students.
Participate in collaborative research opportunities (basic/clinical or applied research) and seek sponsored programs funding.
Participate in daily quality assurance and in Department of Pathology hospital committees and working groups.
Maintain high standards of professional services to ensure JCAHO/CAP/CLIA accreditation.
Maintain accurate medical records and comply with HIPPA regulations.
Attend and participate in departmental meetings, conferences, and events.
