About The Position

This position is for a Professor of Clinical in Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, specializing in Anatomic and Neuropathology. The role involves patient care services across multiple facilities including UMH, JMH, and their satellites, as well as SCCC and its satellites, with a primary focus on Neuropathology. Responsibilities include gross description, specimen sampling, microscopic examinations, ordering ancillary testing, reporting findings, and verifying diagnoses. The position also entails performing Frozen Sections, Rapid On-Site diagnoses, and brain autopsies. Additionally, the role includes participating in multidisciplinary tumor boards, educational activities for residents, fellows, and medical students, collaborative research, quality assurance, and maintaining departmental accreditation standards. Accurate medical record keeping and HIPAA compliance are essential.

Requirements

M.D. or D.O. degree.
Board Certified or Board eligible in Anatomic Pathology, Clinical Pathology, or both.
Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Florida.
Strong knowledge in Neuropathology.
Ability to enhance communication and relations in a diverse professional work force.
Experience with methods, tools, and measurements for quality improvement using a team-based model.
Knowledge of regulations and standards of JCAHO, CAP, and CLIA.
Ability to work independently and make reliable recommendations and diagnoses.
Knowledge of hospital and service procedures and policies regarding hazardous material management, biohazard exposure, and the use of universal precaution.

Responsibilities

Provide patient care services at UMH, JMH, SCCC, and their satellites, focusing on Neuropathology.
Perform gross description, tissue sampling, and microscopic examinations of surgical specimens.
Order appropriate ancillary testing and report findings in a timely manner.
Verify coding diagnoses in the computer when applicable.
Perform Frozen Section and Rapid On-Site diagnoses.
Perform and report brain autopsies.
Provide 24-hour call coverage according to assigned subspecialty.
Participate and contribute to multidisciplinary tumor boards and site disease group meetings.
Participate in educational activities for pathology residents, fellows, and medical students.
Participate in collaborative research opportunities and seek sponsored programs funding.
Participate in daily quality assurance and departmental hospital committees and working groups.
Maintain high standards of professional services to ensure JCAHO/CAP/CLIA accreditation.
Maintain accurate medical records and comply with HIPPA regulations.
Attend and participate in departmental meetings, conferences, and events.
