About The Position

Fanshawe College is seeking a qualified and motivated Chemistry professional to teach in the Pre-Health Sciences Pathway to Advanced Diplomas and Degrees program at the Woodstock/Oxford Regional Campus. This role is crucial as Chemistry is a foundational pillar of the program, requiring students to develop confidence in chemical principles and their application to human health before entering advanced diploma and degree programs. Availability for in-person on campus delivery is required, and the successful candidate will be required to perform work within Ontario.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 2 years of post-degree professional or applied research experience in a chemistry-related field
  • Relevant industry experience, such as pharmaceutical sciences or drug manufacturing, clinical/medical laboratory science, environmental chemistry or testing, healthcare (e.g., pharmacy, clinical biochemistry), biochemistry or life sciences research, or chemical processing and manufacturing
  • Experience working in a laboratory, research, clinical, or regulated industrial setting where applied chemistry knowledge is central to daily practice
  • Availability to teach in-person during daytime hours
  • Combination of excellent leadership and teaching skills with a strong commitment to academic excellence and student success
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to relate effectively to a wide variety of learners
  • Strong technical/computer skills and familiarity with educational technologies

Nice To Haves

  • A Master’s degree (MSc) in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a health sciences field is preferred
  • Previous teaching, tutoring, mentoring, or training experience in a post-secondary, adult education, or professional development context is considered a significant asset
  • Knowledge of curriculum design, learning outcomes, and student evaluation methods in a post-secondary environment is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, in-person chemistry instruction to students in the Pre-Health Sciences program, connecting foundational concepts to real-world health sciences applications
  • Design and implement engaging lesson plans, demonstrations, and assessments that are appropriate for adult learners transitioning from secondary school to post-secondary study
  • Evaluate student performance through assignments, tests, quizzes, and other course assessments aligned with established Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs) and program Vocational Learning Outcomes (VLOs)
  • Provide timely, constructive feedback to support each student’s academic development and preparation for their chosen health career pathway
  • Use Fanshawe’s Learning Management System (FanshaweOnline/FOL) to post course materials, communicate with students, and manage grades
  • Maintain accurate records of grades, and student progress in accordance with College policies
  • Participate in curriculum review processes and contribute to the ongoing improvement of course content in collaboration with the Program Coordinator
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, respectful, and accessible learning environment consistent with Fanshawe’s values and the Ontario Human Rights Code
