The Department of Aerospace Engineering at Auburn University invites applications for multiple open-rank faculty positions at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level. Applications are welcome from candidates in all areas of aerospace engineering, with particular interest in candidates whose research and teaching align with strategic growth areas: hypersonics and advanced aerospace materials; experimental aerospace engineering, testing, and evaluation; AI integration with aerospace systems; advanced propulsion for aerospace and space applications; and space systems engineering, hardware development, integration, and testing. Successful candidates will develop a strong, nationally recognized, externally funded research program; teach aerospace engineering courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels; and participate in service activities supporting the department, university, and profession. Candidates should demonstrate scholarly achievement or strong potential, a clear vision for future research, a commitment to engineering education, and strong communication skills. For appointments at the Associate or Full Professor level, particular emphasis will be placed on the strength of the candidate’s research program and potential to provide leadership and mentorship within a rapidly growing department. Candidates must hold an earned Ph.D. in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or a closely related field by the time of appointment. The selected candidate must be eligible to work legally in the United States when the appointment begins and throughout the proposed term of employment, and must possess excellent written and interpersonal skills. The Department of Aerospace Engineering has more than 750 undergraduate students, 100 graduate students, eighteen tenure-track faculty, and four lecturers. Its research and graduate programs are supported by the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering and interdisciplinary research centers. The department’s proximity to aerospace, defense, and space enterprises across the Southeast offers opportunities for collaboration, innovation, and workforce impact. To ensure full consideration, candidates should apply by December 1, 2026. Applications will continue to be accepted until the positions are filled. Applicants should combine their cover letter and curriculum vitae into one document and upload it under “Resume Upload” (maximum file size: 5 MB).
