About The Position

California State Polytechnic University, Pomona invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Department of Aerospace Engineering, beginning in Fall 2027. The department seeks expertise in Aerospace Design and Systems Engineering, with particular interest in aircraft design and the design of complex aerospace systems. The successful candidate will contribute to the department’s hands-on, student-centered educational mission and its applied scholarship environment. The position includes teaching lower-division, upper-division, and graduate aerospace engineering courses, with expected contributions to aircraft design, spacecraft design, systems engineering, and other design-oriented curriculum areas. The faculty member will support the senior design sequence and other project-based learning, develop curriculum and learning experiences in aerospace design and systems engineering, and establish an active scholarly program. Other duties include mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, pursuing external funding, participating in department, college, and university service, and supporting the department’s polytechnic educational mission. The Aerospace Engineering Department serves more than 750 undergraduate and graduate students and emphasizes learn-by-doing education, hands-on teaching, student mentoring, and applied scholarship. Faculty and students have access to instructional and research facilities including subsonic and supersonic wind tunnel laboratories, a UAV laboratory, an aerospace structures laboratory, an astronautics laboratory, and the Liquid Rocket Lab. The university expects faculty to establish an on-campus presence; CSU-related work may not be performed outside California.
