About The Position

ANCC Magnet designated UPMC Passavant is currently hiring a Full-Time Professional Staff Nurse to support the 4 South – Surgical Progressive Care Unit at the McCandless location. The patient population consists of those individuals requiring a higher level of care than can be provided on the medical-surgical floors but do not require an ICU level of care. Typical patients seen on this unit are: post vascular surgery, post open heart surgery, post heart cath, post defibrillator/pacemaker insertion, CHF, anyone with a cardiac arrhythmia requiring medicine to control heart rate, stroke, high oxygen requirements and those on IV insulin drips. Requirements

Current Pennsylvania licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse
CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
Must complete licensure examination within FOUR MONTHS of hire or within one year of graduation, whichever comes first. Though temporary permits are valid for one year from the date of graduation, not one year from issue of permit (or until the results of the examination are known at which time it becomes null and void), UPMC requires that GNs take the licensure examination within 4 months of their start date or they will be terminated or demoted from the GN position, at the discretion of the BU.
