About The Position

Bethany Children’s Home provides individualized services to youth between the ages of 6 and 20 in a residential home setting on our beautiful rural campus located in Womelsdorf. Youth have opportunities to participate in a variety of therapeutic, spiritual, recreational and cultural services while they heal from past traumas. The PL&D Specialist is responsible for the coordination and delivery of assigned training functions to ensure compliance with regulatory training requirements.

Requirements

  • Be 21 years of age or older.
  • Be fluent in the language(s) spoken by a majority of the youth in care.
  • Have acceptable written and verbal communication skills.
  • Have acceptable organizational and computer skills.
  • Demonstrate acceptable interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Possess a strong commitment to helping youth succeed by helping them reorient their lives, nurture their reunification efforts and enable them to make a successful transition to their next placement.
  • Possess ability to establish rapport and relate sensitively with consistency to multiracial and multicultural groups of young adults.
  • Demonstrate the ability to organize and prioritize duties and responsibilities efficiently.
  • Possess a valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License with a clear 3-year driving history.
  • Successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
  • Submit to a health assessment demonstrating fitness for duty, certified by a physician no more than 30 days prior to commencing employment and comply with a two-year renewal.
  • Provide current PA Child Abuse, PA Criminal History and FBI Fingerprinting clearances prior to commencing employment and comply with a two-year renewal.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in education or training and development; combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Two years of training experience in a social service, healthcare or related field.
  • Superior interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
  • Excellent computer skills with proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook.
  • Previous experience with a learning management system and Articulate or other presenter software.
  • Needs valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
  • Must have health assessment certified by a physician no more than 30 days prior to commencing employment and renewed every two years.
  • Must provide current PA Child Abuse, PA Criminal History and FBI Fingerprinting clearances within 30 days of commencing employment.

Responsibilities

  • Creates, reevaluates and modifies training curriculum in accordance with DHS 3800 Regulations and Bethany’s required training.
  • Creates, reevaluates and modifies training materials in a manner to address different learning styles.
  • Creates and administers training assessment and evaluation tools to measure effectiveness.
  • Schedules and delivers in-house training for all staff to comply with training curriculum.
  • Educates staff and enforces compliance of training regulations with the cooperation of other supervisory staff and by providing reasonable notice and access to training classes, meetings and materials.
  • Analyzes training needs to develop new training programs or modify and improve existing programs.
  • Prepares training budget for the corporation.
  • Maintains the learning management system by creating and modifying online courses.
  • Tracks employee training in the learning management system by updating assigned and passed courses.
  • Adheres to all policies and procedures.
  • Performs all work in a safe manner.
  • Treats all children, families, staff with respect and courtesy.
  • Is required to complete and maintain all mandated and required training within required agency timeframes.
  • Must maintain timely compliance with all established agency standards and employment documentation.
  • Acts in compliance with Department of Human Services Regulations to the highest degree of ethical standards.
  • Maintains a clean and tidy working environment.
  • Provides services in a manner that are sensitive to the age, culture, religion, dietary needs, sexual orientation, gender identity and other important individual needs of clients.
  • Ensures proper physical care is provided.
  • Ensures new clothing and personal grooming items are provided.
  • Implements strategies to discourage runaways and unauthorized absences.
  • Informs the client of his/her rights and ensures that those rights are met.
  • Carries out the program’s rules and discipline standards with a positive, strength-based behavior management approach.
  • Provides transportation to and from campus.
  • Carries out additional duties as assigned by program’s Director.
