About The Position

CTL Engineering is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Professional Geologist to join their Geotech Team. This role involves performing geotechnical explorations and investigations for clients, leveraging expertise and problem-solving skills in collaboration with various stakeholders. The position is primarily office-based in Shelbyville, KY, with typically less than 20-30% travel. The role is ideal for someone passionate about industry trends, problem-solving, and creative approaches in the geotechnical field.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in consulting engineering on various Geotech projects, preferably KYTC/transportation-related projects.
  • P.G. is required.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record and ability to operate field vehicles.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be willing to travel, and be physically able to maneuver on open terrain.

Nice To Haves

  • PE licensure is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzing and interpreting geotechnical data, including classification of rock cores and design of rock cuts.
  • Coordinating explorations and preparing reports.
  • Assisting with analyses.
  • Conducting field surveys.
  • Processing and interpreting geophysical data.
  • Preparing reports and presentations.
  • Staying up-to-date with the latest developments in geophysical research and technology.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Managing project timelines and budgets.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Providing direction on a project-to-project basis, including preparing testing assignments and reviewing documents and testing results.
  • Performing analysis and design of shallow and deep foundations and slope stability evaluations.
  • Monitoring and enforcing quality control standards and specifications.
  • Participating in fieldwork, sometimes in remote or challenging locations.
  • Training and development of new team members.
  • Participating in professional development and continuing education opportunities.
  • Possibly supporting environmental impact assessments and remediation projects as needed.
  • Working independently on broad projects with oversight/supervision by the Service Line Manager.
