About The Position

This posting is for a Regular Part-Time Professor position for the Fall 2026 semester, teaching courses PED 3540 and PED 3550. PED 3540 focuses on the study of major child learning theories (behaviorism, humanism, cognitivism, constructivism), associated pedagogical processes and currents, Indigenous perspectives on learning, and the impact of epistemological stances on the teacher's role and pedagogical choices. It examines teaching practices based on these models to foster student learning in primary and middle cycles in a pluralistic minority context. PED 3550 focuses on the study of major adolescent learning theories (behaviorism, humanism, cognitivism, constructivism), associated pedagogical processes and currents, Indigenous perspectives on learning, and the impact of epistemological stances on the teacher's role and pedagogical choices. It examines teaching practices based on these models to foster student learning in secondary school in a pluralistic minority context. The course is taught in French, with passive competence in a second language required. The schedule is Fridays from 14:30 to 17:30, in person.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Education required; a Doctorate in Education is preferred.
  • At least one of the following: Recent full-time teaching experience in a school or administration within a school board, including 2 years of implementing the Ontario curriculum relevant to the course subject with a specialist qualification in the course subject; OR Current and peer-reviewed research record relevant to the course subject; OR Recent Ph.D. comprehensive examination relevant to the course subject.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the current Ontario Curriculum relevant to the course subject and Ontario Ministry of Education documents relevant to the course subject.
  • Proven ability to apply the Standards of Practice and the Code of Ethics of the Ontario College of Teachers.
  • An acceptable level of education and/or experience could be viewed as being equivalent to the educational required and/or demonstrated experience.
