About The Position

This position is for a Regular Part-Time Professor to teach FLS 2581 B00, an immersion French as a Second Language (FSL) course associated with a 3-credit discipline course (ANT 1501), taken in French by non-francophone students. The objective is to develop second language comprehension skills (listening and reading) and assist students in assimilating the discipline's subject matter. While exam answers in the discipline course can be in English or French, answers in the language course must be in French only. In addition to teaching the language course, the FLS professor must also follow the discipline course, ANT 1501A00, which is held in person on Tuesdays from 16:00 to 17:30 and Thursdays from 14:30 to 16:00. Students may be enrolled in sections A00, B00, or C00 of ANT 1501. The course is scheduled for Thursdays from 13:00 to 14:30 and will be delivered in person.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Didactics of French as a Second Language or a relevant field for teaching French as a Second Language.
• Two years of FSL teaching experience at the university level, or equivalent.
• Familiarity with software and technology relevant to teaching FLS courses.
• Knowledge of immersion pedagogy demonstrated by CV.
• Any professor who taught an FLS/ESL course at OLBI before January 1, 2018, is considered to meet the degree requirement.

Responsibilities

• Teach FLS 2581 B00, an immersion French as a Second Language course.
• Develop students' second language comprehension skills (listening and reading).
• Assist students in assimilating the subject matter of the associated discipline course (ANT 1501).
• Follow the discipline course ANT 1501A00, which is in person.
• Ensure all responses in the language course are in French only.
