This is a new position for the Fall 2026 semester in the Department of History within the Faculty of Arts. The course, HIS3585-A00, is titled "Thèmes choisis en histoire de l'Afrique au sud du Sahara" (Selected Themes in the History of Sub-Saharan Africa). The course description focuses on writing, filming, and walking, exploring political mobilization in Africa during independence struggles. It aims to study political mobilization forms accompanying the broad movement of contestation in colonized Sub-Saharan African territories from a de-centered, comparative, and reflexive perspective. Special attention will be given to the status of writings, speeches, and images in nationalist claims during both peaceful struggles and national liberation wars. The course is taught in French and has an expected enrollment of 45 students.
