About The Position

The Faculty of Education's teacher training program is recruiting professors to mentor student teachers during their practical and reflective training. This role supports the professional development of future educators by providing pedagogical guidance and emotional support. The position involves remote supervision using digital tools, collaboration with school-based mentors, and conducting observations and feedback sessions. The professor will also be responsible for animating stage seminars and assigning the final grade for the internship.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Education.
  • Qualification in a field related to teaching in French-language schools in Ontario.
  • Recent experience in teaching or school administration at the primary/junior level.
  • Knowledge of the Ontario curriculum, teaching profession standards, and the Ontario College of Teachers' code of ethics.
  • Equivalent education/experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Provide pedagogical and emotional support to student teachers, offering constructive feedback tailored to their development.
  • Implement effective remote supervision methods using appropriate digital tools, ensuring ethical and confidential practices.
  • Collaborate with school-based teachers to ensure consistency and complementarity in student teacher supervision.
  • Plan, conduct, and document observation sessions and remote feedback meetings, utilizing digital tools for reflective analysis.
  • Participate in a mandatory information session on September 17, 2026.
  • Lead stage seminars on specified dates in October, November, and December 2026.
  • Assign the final grade for the internship and submit it within 10 days of its completion.

Benefits

  • Hourly rate of $239.47 (2024-2025) for teaching.
  • Vacation pay and statutory pay are not included in the hourly rate.
  • Retroactive pay will be provided after the ratification of a new collective agreement.
  • The hiring process is governed by the current APTPUO collective agreements.
