We are seeking an experienced, results-driven Production Welding Supervisor to lead and support our welding production team. This position is responsible for supervising employees, coordinating daily welding activities, and ensuring safety, quality, productivity, and delivery goals are achieved. The ideal candidate is a strong, hands-on leader with welding and manufacturing experience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced production environment. This role will promote teamwork, accountability, employee development, continuous improvement, and a strong commitment to safety and quality.

Requirements

  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Strong hands-on welding experience, preferably in a production or fabrication environment.
  • Experience in metal fabrication, contract manufacturing, or a similar production environment preferred.
  • Strong understanding of welding processes, weld quality, fit-up, blueprints, welding symbols, and production requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, motivate, and hold employees accountable.
  • Strong troubleshooting and decision-making skills with the ability to resolve production and quality issues.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and changing production demands.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, work instructions, production schedules, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Proficient with basic computer programs and manufacturing systems.
  • Ability to work effectively in a manufacturing environment and perform the physical requirements of the position.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and support welding employees to promote teamwork, accountability, safety, quality, and high performance.
  • Coordinate daily welding activities to ensure production schedules, customer requirements, quality standards, and delivery expectations are met.
  • Assign work, monitor performance, provide direction, and ensure employees have the training, equipment, materials, and resources needed to perform their jobs successfully.
  • Oversee daily welding operations and ensure employees follow established procedures, work instructions, weld requirements, and production standards.
  • Promote and enforce company safety policies and procedures while maintaining a safe, clean, and organized welding environment.
  • Ensure welded products meet customer specifications and company quality standards. Identify and address weld quality concerns and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Monitor welding processes, including MIG, robotic welding, fit-up, weld appearance, and proper use of welding equipment and materials.
  • Monitor workflow, staffing, material availability, equipment needs, and production progress to minimize downtime and keep jobs moving efficiently.
  • Identify production issues, bottlenecks, quality concerns, and equipment-related problems. Work with employees and other departments to develop effective solutions.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve safety, quality, productivity, efficiency, scrap reduction, and overall welding performance.
  • Train, coach, and develop welding employees while identifying opportunities for cross-training and skill development.
  • Provide regular feedback, recognize positive performance, and address attendance, performance, and behavioral concerns in accordance with company policies.
  • Effectively manage multiple production priorities, employee needs, quality concerns, and changing customer requirements while maintaining focus on safety and production goals.
  • Maintain clear and effective communication with employees, management, production control, engineering, quality, maintenance, and other departments.
  • Work closely with fabrication, engineering, quality, maintenance, and other production departments to maintain efficient workflow and minimize delays.
  • Monitor welding equipment, consumables, fixtures, and materials to ensure employees have what they need to maintain production.
  • Complete production reports, employee documentation, timekeeping approvals, quality documentation, and other required records accurately and on time.
