About The Position

The Welding Shop Supervisor is responsible for the safe, efficient, and effective execution of production within the Welding Department. The Supervisor owns departmental performance across Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost and is accountable for staffing, work assignments, production priorities, employee performance, and adherence to established welding processes. The Supervisor leads and develops Team Leads and employees to safely execute the production plan, maintain quality standards, and continuously improve departmental performance.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen
  • 5+ years of manufacturing experience, preferably in welding or metal fabrication.
  • 3+ years of supervisory, team leadership, or frontline leadership experience.
  • Working knowledge of welding processes, WPSs, welding symbols, drawings, and manufacturing work instructions.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, develop, and hold employees accountable.
  • Experience managing production priorities, staffing, productivity, and operational performance.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Own daily Welding Department performance and execution of the production plan.
  • Lead, coach, develop, and hold Team Leads and employees accountable for safety, quality, delivery, productivity, attendance, and behavior.
  • Establish staffing, work assignments, and priorities to maximize production flow and resource utilization.
  • Lead daily shift start-up and Tier 1 management; identify constraints, remove barriers, and escalate issues when necessary.
  • Ensure welding is performed to approved WPSs, drawings, work instructions, customer requirements, and established processes.
  • Ensure teams are staffed and have material, equipment, tooling, training, and information required to execute the work.
  • Monitor and improve schedule attainment, productivity, labor utilization, First Pass Yield, rework, and overall department performance.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and production-ready work environment and enforce 6S and safety standards.
  • Stop, contain, and escalate work when safety, quality, or process requirements cannot be met.
  • Partner with Quality, Engineering, Process CWI, Welding Quality & Training, Planning, Maintenance, Materials, and other functions to resolve constraints and improve performance.
  • Provide clear performance reporting, recovery plans, and escalation of risks to leadership.
  • Drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and process discipline.
