About The Position

Wausau Tile is seeking a hardworking, dependable, and safety-focused Production Welder for its Weld Shop team. The role fabricates, welds, and assembles metal components used to reinforce cast concrete products. Daily work includes cutting, grinding, bending, interpreting blueprints and specification sheets, and operating MIG and wire-feed welding equipment. The position calls for mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, the ability to work independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision, and a strong commitment to quality, safety, and equipment maintenance.

The work is located at Building 1 in Rothschild, Wisconsin, and is full-time. Physical demands include regularly lifting and moving up to 50 pounds; prolonged standing, walking, bending, squatting, and kneeling; frequent repetitive hand, wrist, and arm motions; and climbing ladders and stairs as needed. Employees should be comfortable working in varying temperatures and shop environments.

Requirements

• Welding certification or technical training is required.
• Proficiency in MIG and wire-feed welding techniques.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
• Ability to work independently.
• Experience operating fabrication equipment and material-handling tools.
• Willingness to assist with training and support leadership when needed.

Responsibilities

• Use MIG and wire-feed welding equipment to join metal components for concrete product reinforcement.
• Measure, cut, bend, and grind metal components to prepare them for welding.
• Set up and maintain welding machines, grinders, and other shop tools.
• Use forklifts, pallet jacks, and overhead cranes to move materials safely.
• Inspect finished welds with straightedges and templates to ensure they meet specifications.
• Read and interpret blueprints, specification sheets, and work orders accurately.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Identify faulty operations or material issues and report them to supervision.
• Assist with training and mentoring team members when needed.
