About The Position

The Production Utility is an entry level position, and the individual will learn to monitor and maintain inventory levels of all raw materials using reclaimers and loaders. They will maintain all raw materials bin levels, perform clean-up and housekeeping functions as assigned, and maintain visual surveillance of mobile equipment and process. The role requires taking remedial action and/or reporting conditions to the Control Room Operator or Supervisor that may be detrimental to the safety of personnel, equipment, process, or environment. The position involves maintaining a safe working environment, adhering to safety policies and practices, performing daily housekeeping of the assigned area, conducting daily workplace inspections, and following plant policies and proper use of plant radios. Familiarity with MSHA safety rules, safety procedures for plant mobile equipment, lockout/tagout policy, confined space permit policy, hot work policy, emergency response plan, arc flash/shock and burn protection, and proper containment and disposal processes for environmentally sensitive materials is necessary. The role also ensures the quality of work performed, participates in continuous improvement systems, observes and promotes best practices, demonstrates good time management, and is able to troubleshoot/analyze root cause failures. The Production Utility will work where and when needed as directed by plant supervisory personnel to meet plant needs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts.
  • Mechanical aptitude and basic mechanical/electrical knowledge.
  • Experience operating or learning to operate heavy equipment, including loaders, skid steers, forklifts, and bobcats.
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems, follow instructions, and work independently.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, safety data sheets, and operating procedures.
  • Basic math skills and strong attention to safety.
  • Physically capable of lifting, climbing, bending, kneeling, and working in an industrial environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in manufacturing, mining, construction, heavy equipment, or industrial maintenance is a plus.
  • Industrial, manufacturing, construction, mining, or heavy equipment experience preferred.
