About The Position

The Production Technician provides hands-on technical support for engineers and production teams by performing routine equipment maintenance, tool replacement, and process support. This role is essential to ensuring production runs smoothly, safely, and efficiently. Responsibilities include troubleshooting basic mechanical issues, maintaining documentation, and supporting continuous improvement efforts such as 5S, safety practices, and preventative maintenance initiatives.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2+ years of technical, maintenance, or production experience.
  • Frequent walking, standing, bending, and crawling to access and maintain equipment.
  • Regular lifting and carrying of materials and tools up to 50 lbs.
  • Constant use of hand and power tools, with repetitive hand and arm motions.
  • Occasional ladder climbing and color recognition for electrical or quality tasks.
  • Work is performed primarily on the production floor, with exposure to noise, vibration, heat (e.g., solder pots), oil, dust, and alcohol-based fumes. Tasks may involve confined spaces, elevated areas, and use of technical equipment. PPE such as safety glasses.
  • Basic manufacturing processes, materials, and quality control practices.
  • Technical documentation such as specifications, drawings, and instructions.
  • ERP systems, maintenance procedures, and safety compliance.
  • Troubleshooting and routine equipment maintenance.
  • Time study execution and tool replacement.
  • Accurate data entry and basic software proficiency.
  • Communication, teamwork, and documentation.
  • Work under and around machines and equipment in tight or awkward spaces.
  • Identify issues and escalate technical concerns appropriately.
  • Follow structured processes and adhere to safety standards.
  • Coordinate with engineers and production staff effectively.
  • Must be able to legally work in the United States; we are unable to provide sponsorship.
  • Position requires candidate to be a U.S. person as defined in ITAR, 22 CFR 120.15 (U.S. Citizenship or Resident Alien Status) and defined by 8 U.S.C. 1101(a) (20).

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance on production equipment.
  • Replace and order tools used in the assembly department.
  • Solve routine technical problems and answer technical questions using existing documentation.
  • Support engineers with continuous improvement initiatives, including 5S and process updates.
  • Conduct time studies to verify production standards.
  • Read and understand manuals, specifications, and work instructions.
  • Enter and maintain production method data using ERP and other systems.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality staff to ensure process compliance.
  • Train others on procedures and safe equipment use.
  • Operate basic shop tools, machines, and software including Epicor, SolidWorks, and Microsoft Office.
  • Uphold Positronic’s standards of integrity, quality, and operational excellence.
  • Identify hazards in the workplace and report them to management and/or the safety coordinator.
  • Collaborate with the EHS department to meet local, state, and federal regulatory requirements, including OSHA, NFPA, DNR, EPA, and Amphenol sustainability practices.
  • Work with the Quality department to ensure compliance with AS9100 certification standards.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
