About The Position

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 1-3 years of machine shop experience.

Nice To Haves

  • In compliance with the collective bargaining agreement, priority consideration is given to candidates who are INTERNAL (and recall) to the Pratt & Whitney IAM Bargaining Unit members of District Lodge 26 and Affiliated Locals 700 and 1746 (Connecticut Operations).
  • Advanced math skills.
  • Proficient using calipers, and reading blueprints.

Responsibilities

  • Work from verbal, written, and electronically generated instructions to set up, adjust, and operate a wide variety of manual and numerically controlled auxiliary equipment in support of coating operations within an assigned area.
  • Assignments may include running manual and automated equipment, ovens and furnaces, media equipment cleaning operations, and hole drilling equipment, where methods and processes are developed and closely controlled.
  • Assist others responsible for new parts process tryouts, run test pieces, and re-operate rejected parts, following prescribed repair instructions.
  • Check work both visually and with gauges provided.
  • Assist others responsible for the setup, operation, changeovers, and maintenance on a variety of complex coating equipment.
  • Perform masking and de-masking operations; assemble and remove parts into holding fixtures.
  • Clean out coating chambers during changeovers; clean and make minor repairs to fixturing, such as removing and replacing broken bolts or details.
  • Perform routine servicing throughout the assigned area following specified procedures and written instructions (such as operator’s checklist) for upkeep to ensure equipment operates properly.
  • Use a variety of mechanical and manual devices to control product and process configuration between operations.
