The Production Technician (1st Shift 5:00AM-3:00PM Mon-Thur) is a non-supervisory position located in Delavan, Wisconsin. This role is responsible for all machine-specific functions, including configuring, loading, operating, and optimizing assigned machines to ensure they run at full capacity. The technician will also oversee and perform light maintenance and conduct quality checks to drive profitability and achieve organizational KPIs and strategic objectives. Under the guidance of the Production Supervisor, the responsibilities include setting up, operating, monitoring, troubleshooting, cleaning, and performing preventive maintenance on assigned machines. This involves ensuring quality production and minimizing unplanned stops by setting up and operating machines according to procedures, checking output, identifying issues, and adjusting settings. The technician will also inspect parts to specifications and make necessary adjustments or tool changes. Reading and interpreting equipment manuals and production orders is also a key part of the role.

Requirements

  • Education, training, and experience equivalent to a high school diploma/GED with at least 6 months of machine operating experience (preferably in extrusion) in an industrial setting.
  • Coursework should be supplemented with mechanical systems.
  • Possess a basic knowledge level of MS Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Must possess a solid knowledge and understanding of the principles and methods involved in machining processes and applicable safety and OSHA requirements.
  • Must possess the ability to build positive team relationships and achieve outcome-oriented objectives.
  • Must possess the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, setting priorities and managing time effectively.
  • Must possess the ability to work independently, managing job orders and deadlines while maintaining an awareness of other business dependencies, when completing assigned duties.

  • Working knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies (LEAN Enterprise) with a holistic viewpoint.

Responsibilities

  • Perform various tasks to set up, operate, monitor, troubleshoot, clean, and complete preventive maintenance on assigned machines.
  • Set up and operate single or multiple production machines in accordance with established procedures and guidelines to ensure quality production and minimal unplanned stops.
  • Check machine output and identify any issues.
  • Adjust machine settings to complete tasks accurately, according to specifications.
  • Inspect parts to specifications and make adjustments, or tool changes as necessary to maintain quality specifications.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and production orders to perform required tasks.
