About The Position

This position is responsible for working on a moving conveyor belt using both hands to spread or style product. The role involves performing multiple types of packing and weighing, pulling bones from product, and inspecting, grading, and removing product that does not meet standards. The Production Technician participates as a member of the Team, contributing to the ongoing development, communication, and implementation of team concepts, programs, and policies. This includes coordinating work to ensure best practices with all team members and attending appropriate team meetings. The role also involves fostering strong cohesiveness regarding major issues such as direction, annual plans, budgets, and policy changes, and taking responsibility to identify and resolve areas lacking cohesiveness. Team members are expected to be familiar with Simmons' established operating systems (quality, security, office environment, company policies, LEAN) and understand their role in supporting these systems, considering the impact of individual actions and communicating concerns and improvement ideas. The position also includes performing other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.

Requirements

  • Must be able to move, push or pull up to 55 pounds from table to scales at waist level.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, walk, stand and work in a cold, wet, noisy, dusty environment for entire shift.
  • This position involves repetitive motion.
  • May include rotating through cold and hot areas of the plant.
  • Std waterproof gloves, sleeves, hearing protection, slip resistant footwear are required.

  • Is familiar with Simmons' established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies, LEAN).
  • Understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position's role in support of these systems.

  • Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
