About The Position

The Production Technician Specialist is responsible for setting up, programming, and troubleshooting robotic machining cells. This role involves machining, grinding, and polishing metal tools from the forging stage through finishing operations to meet company quality standards. The position requires a strong understanding of abstract concepts, mechanical aptitude, and mathematical skills related to manufacturing processes.

Requirements

  • At least five (5) years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Understanding of abstract concepts; mechanical aptitude with understanding of inertia, friction, position, speed, acceleration, transfer of force; and knowledge of plant machining operations.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as algorithms, integrals, probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and employees.
  • Basic computer skills along with programming concepts including Boolean logic.
  • Ability to stand eight hours or more per day.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and occasionally lift/move up to 100 pounds.
  • Acceptable attendance, quality, productivity, safety, cooperation in previous positions.

  • Must attend job-related robotic programming and mechanical classes at company discretion and expense.

Responsibilities

  • Setups and programs robotic machining cells to polish, grind, machine, and/or finishing tools according to the company design and standards.
  • Adjusts programs within robotic cells to correct program for variations in work-in-process tools.
  • Troubleshoots any programming issues and fixes any program errors or malfunctions.
  • Writes programs as needed for tool production and new tools as needed.
  • Performs minor maintenance on equipment, such as replacing broken pneumatic hoses and cleaning blower tubes.
  • Performs duties as a Robotic Cell Technician when there are no programming issues to complete.
  • Transports tools to and from appropriate staging areas.
  • Completes the appropriate routing sheet and inputs data entry information in a timely manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.
