About The Position

The Production Technical Operator 3 operates soldering and related production equipment, including solder wave, vapor degreaser, selective solder, air-vac lead-free and leaded solder pots, an SRT rework station, and special-parts preparation equipment. The role solders, cleans, reworks, and fabricates parts, components, and subassemblies using scopes, basic hand tools, and special devices. Responsibilities include selecting and adding flux, cleaning equipment, following preventive-maintenance schedules, identifying when wave-solder pallets need maintenance, and setting up wave-solder height, width, and conveyor speed. The operator sets up and follows guidelines and preventive-maintenance requirements for selective-soldering equipment. Settings must support timely production of quality products in accordance with prints and routings. The operator reviews routings against prints, confirms that routers specify the correct programs and revisions, and may measure and record product data. The position performs periodic hand soldering under a scope for touch-up and solder-joint review. It also involves preparing wire by cutting, stripping, twisting, and tinning, then soldering or fastening wires, cables, resistors, capacitors, and other parts to printed wiring boards, connectors, and assemblies. The operator cleans parts and hand-placed components during production. Training in surface-mount equipment may be provided, and the role may include monitoring floor-stock inventory such as solder paste and flux and notifying a Supervisor or Lead when supplies are low. Work is performed in support of applicable documented instructions and business requirements at the Celestica Maple Grove facility, which is registered to ISO 9001:2015, ISO 13485:2016, and AS 9100: Rev. D, and is Nadcap accredited and NASA-STD-8739 compliant. The facility is subject to US ITAR export-control requirements; information may be required after acceptance of employment to determine whether export-control exemptions or licenses must be filed.
