About The Position

Position Summary: The Production Team Lead plays a key role in driving day-to-day operations on the production floor by coordinating, guiding, and supporting a team of hourly production workers. This hands-on role ensures safety practices are followed, production goals are met, and quality standards are upheld. Working closely with the Production Supervisor, the Team Lead helps identify inefficiencies, resolve issues, and maintain a clean, organized work environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical/vocational training a plus.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment; prior leadership experience (e.g., Lead, Trainer, Mentor) strongly preferred.
  • Solid understanding of production processes, safety protocols, and quality standards.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate others.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with minimal supervision.
  • Comfortable using basic computer systems and production tracking tools.

Responsibilities

  • Support and enforce all safety policies, procedures, and best practices; immediately address unsafe behaviors and conditions.
  • Lead by example to drive team productivity, morale, and accountability during the assigned shift or work area.
  • Coordinate daily production activities based on shift plans and communicate goals to operators.
  • Assist in monitoring production output, equipment performance, and process efficiency; escalate issues to the Production Supervisor as needed.
  • Provide on-the-job training and mentoring to new or less experienced team members.
  • Communicate shift updates and critical information during start-up meetings and shift handovers.
  • Support quality assurance efforts by ensuring work instructions are followed and defects are minimized.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting on equipment and assist in identifying maintenance needs.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area by promoting 5S standards and good housekeeping practices.
  • Track and document shift data, including downtime, scrap, and production counts, using provided systems or forms.
  • Act as a point of contact for frontline questions, concerns, or coordination needs when the Supervisor is not immediately available.
  • Assist in the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Production Supervisor or Management.
