About The Position

Jefferson Industries, the North American headquarters for G-TEKT Corporation, is a key player in the Global Automotive Industry, specializing in the design and development of press dies and tools for automotive product manufacturing. The company supports high-quality product manufacturing with a timely and flexible approach to customer needs. They are seeking a Team Leader for their Hot Stamping Department on the 1st shift (6:00 am to 2:30 pm). The Team Leader is expected to model professionalism, teamwork, and strong job performance, supporting JIC's plans, policies, and operations. This role requires motivating associates positively, taking initiative to solve problems, and ensuring effective communication.

Requirements

  • Possess skills to communicate with associates, management team, other department managers and senior management.
  • Strong communication skills to provide direction and motivation to team members.
  • Able to motivate associates and team members to keep process and equipment in good condition to assure smooth running operation.
  • Able to quickly ascertain a situation and be decisive in identifying defects and solving problems with equipment and process to avoid missed quality, delivery or safety concerns.
  • Develop task list and assure on-time implementation of tasks.
  • Able to operate with basic computer skills, including preparing memos and responding to emails.
  • Related production experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratios, and percent to draw and interpret mathematical data.
  • Must be passionate, highly motivated individual to lead a Hot Stamping team.
  • Performs above Essential Duties & Responsibilities in satisfactory manner.
  • Works on building relationships and collaborating with production team members to ensure proper utilization of lines and equipment.
  • Must be self-starter with own continuous improvement agenda.
  • Must have an energy level and attention to detail that routinely delivers expected results.

Responsibilities

  • Enforce and follow all Safety rules and Lock-Out Policy, addressing safety issues/violations.
  • Operate areas efficiently to meet required production and ensure lines/processes run within set cycle times.
  • Verify production is scheduled to meet customer demands.
  • Ensure lines are producing good quality parts, perform Part Quality Confirmation, and follow/enforce quality and containment procedures.
  • Ensure associates are trained on quality procedures and aware of the Quality Policy.
  • Communicate all quality problems with line associates and supervision, and initiate corrective action.
  • Ensure all rework parts are properly contained or completed before the end of the shift.
  • Maintain cleanliness and order of the line, ensuring daily C.O.P. duties are completed and the line is cleaned and set up for the next shift.
  • Control the cost of line items, help control waste, reduce scrap and overtime.
  • Train associates on Operation Standards and other job-related procedures, including demonstrating jobs, start-up checks, Plex, and material loading/unloading.
  • Ensure completion of documentation associated with operations, including downtime, scrap, rework, and time sheets, ensuring accuracy.
  • Help associates understand company policies, benefits, and operating procedures, coach associates to improve performance, and report problems to their Coordinator while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Communicate job-related information to associates, actively participate in start-up meetings to inform associates of Safety, Quality, and Production issues, and report all issues/concerns back to supervision.
  • Ensure lines are set up on proper model types and stocked for the next shift, with enough line-side stock for at least the first 60 pieces to minimize downtime.
  • Ensure Plex is set up on correct model types with all source scanned in at the workstation.
