About The Position

Meyer Utility Structures is seeking a Production Supervisor for its Gadsden, Alabama plant. The supervisor oversees multiple activities and takes ownership of the output of the employees on the team. This role requires a strong working knowledge of machinery, equipment, and processes, and responsibility for managing assigned departments to achieve plant goals while maintaining high standards for safety, quality, and productivity.

Meyer Utility Structures, a subsidiary of Arcosa, Inc., designs and fabricates concrete and tubular steel structures for transmission, distribution, and substation applications. The Production Supervisor manages fit-up and welding operations for assigned work groups and production bays.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of successful leadership experience in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment.
• High degree of dependability and maturity, with strong leadership characteristics demonstrated through previous professional work experience.
• Regular and predictable attendance, a positive attitude, and ability to work well with a team toward a common goal.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering in any discipline.
• Experience in a metal fabrication or welding facility, especially with flux and metal core welding.
• Thorough knowledge of blueprints and layouts, preferably related to transmission poles.

Responsibilities

• Ensure employees follow safety procedures and protocols; serve on safety committees and complete regular safety audits.
• Manage daily production operations for assigned work groups producing heavy industrial products.
• Set production schedules based on production introduction, equipment efficiency, and quality metrics.
• Coach employees on work quality and quantity, including fit-up and welding processes; help meet goals and resolve identified issues.
• Ensure sufficient quantities of quality products are produced at or below budgeted production cost.
• Assist with continuous improvement activities to improve material movement through production processes.
• Manage hourly employees and monitor and approve time sheets and work logs.
• Assign employees to workstations and ensure they complete appropriate training.
• Manage fit-up and welding processes for assigned work groups and production bays, ensuring employees adhere to production policies and procedures.
