About The Position

The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing production operations at the Cape Girardeau site. This role involves providing leadership to production employees in receiving, warehousing, distribution, and production of products. The supervisor must ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations, maintain quality standards, manage inventory, and support new product startups. Additionally, the role requires effective communication, strong organizational skills, and the ability to operate production equipment.

Requirements

  • Minimum work experience in a supervisory position of 2 years
  • Minimum education of high school diploma
  • Proficiency in all Verdesian products software and programs related to job functions of this position
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient use of MS Office: Word and Excel
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize work
  • Proficient use of standard lab equipment
  • Ability to handle oneself in stressful situations
  • Maintain production quality
  • Observe Safe Food/Safe Feed criteria
  • Complete required production forms and recording

Responsibilities

  • Acquire knowledge and understanding of all production lines and formulations to adequately support production operations.
  • Provide leadership on the floor to help production employees receive, warehouse, distribute, and produce products.
  • Comply with prescribed safety procedures or federal laws regulating waste disposal methods.
  • Conduct daily toolbox talks with entire staff and maintain safety standards.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of pertinent regulations governing property storage and management of hazardous materials.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety procedures concerning lock-out/tag-out, confined space entry, etc.
  • Oversee plant safety program on the floor to ensure employees are working in a manner consistent with training, injury reporting, and assuring plant environment is accessible and safe.
  • Assure shift personnel are following all safety procedures at all times.
  • Watch new personnel closely during their probationary periods to create a positive safety culture.
  • Conduct and record lab analysis of manufactured products (QA/QC).
  • Train as functional back-up for all production operators to be knowledgeable on how to handle problems or setbacks.
  • Examine machinery used in the production process to verify conformance to quality standards.
  • Gain proficient understanding and be capable of operating all equipment where needed in the areas of Plant Production Processes.
  • Maintain warehouse and storage of materials in an orderly and consistent manner.
  • Maintain housekeeping practices in the plant to a high standard.
  • Read work orders, production schedules, and other records and reports to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs.
  • Observe equipment operations, test machinery, equipment, components, and parts for defects to ensure proper functioning.
  • Demonstrate equipment operations and work and safety procedures to new employees, or assign employees to experienced workers for training.
  • Maintain and approve employee time and manage any attendance issues according to company policy.
  • In concurrence with plant management and human resources, issue discipline to employees as necessary and appropriate according to company policy.
  • Review shift paperwork to ensure pertinent information is recorded by each operator to point out and highlight issues affecting production, use and consumption of raw materials, clean outs and finished goods.
  • Work with production leads to ensure that inventory supply of materials consistently meets appropriate demand.
  • Provide project support for new startups of products specifically assigned by Production Manager.
  • Complete facilities maintenance duties as assigned.
  • Complete other duties not listed above as assigned by immediate supervisor.
