About The Position

The Production Supervisor supervises and coordinates the day-to-day activities of production workers on an assigned shift. The role is responsible for safety, quality, production, shipping and receiving, and maintenance during that shift. The supervisor uses leadership and communication skills to help employees deliver customer value through quality and service, and applies a continuous-improvement mindset to production methods, equipment performance, and product quality.

Requirements

3 to 5 years of experience in a plant environment.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Strong mechanical aptitude.
Ability to train, motivate, and direct production employees.
Ability to work long and irregular hours in response to customer demands and production matters.
Willingness and ability to work an afternoon or night shift.
Excellent communication and leadership abilities.

Nice To Haves

A college degree.
Process control experience.
Steel, slitting, coil coating, or other steel-related experience; strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Inspect products to verify conformance to specifications and direct machine setup and adjustments.
Review production schedules and estimate worker-hour requirements for assigned jobs.
Establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules.
Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and product quality.
Suggest changes to working conditions and equipment use to improve efficiency.
Analyze and resolve work issues and assist and coach employees in solving work problems.
Maintain time and production records.
Coordinate production activities with other departments in collaboration with management.
Document shift incidents and accidents.
Improve production goals and KPIs.
Oversee safety, quality, production, shipping and receiving, and maintenance on the assigned shift.
