About The Position

The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily production goals, directing staff, and ensuring that production and quality meet specifications. This role involves planning production operations, scheduling manufacturing activities, and resolving operational issues to minimize costs and prevent delays. The supervisor also plays a key role in maintaining a safe working environment by enforcing safety rules, investigating accidents, and ensuring the proper use of personal protective equipment.

Requirements

Ability to write correspondence effectively and appropriately.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Basic math skills.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
3 to 5 years of experience or training.

Responsibilities

Communicate daily goals and direct staff as needed to accomplish goals set forth by the organization at the start and throughout the shift to every team member.
Review production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates to plan department operations.
Plan production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products.
Prepare operational schedules and coordinate manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meet specifications.
Review production and operating reports and resolve operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimal costs and prevent operational delays.
Inspect machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization.
Follow standard operational and working practices set forth by the organization and observe workers to ensure compliance with standards.
Resolve worker grievances or submit unsettled grievances to Plant Manager or refer Human Resources for action.
Set examples of safe practices through conduct.
Investigate and correct, or have corrected immediately, unsafe conditions.
Know, observe, instruct and enforce all the general safety rules and special instructions for the department.
Thoroughly acquaint each employee with safety instructions and practice.
Investigate and report all personal injuries and illnesses sustained on the job by personnel within their area of responsibility.
Investigate and report all property damage accidents.
Welcome discussions involving safety suggestions which may be made by the workers review with safety manager to determine use of if practicable.
Ensure workers have and use personal protective equipment as determined by the Safety Manager.
Ensure all tools and equipment are in safe and proper working condition.
Directly supervises all staff members in their Production Department.
Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Appraise performance.
Reward and discipline employees at time of events ensuring results are as intended.
Perform any other duties assigned.
