About The Position

The Production Supervisor will provide leadership and training to all employees for Safety, Quality, Production, Packaging, and Maintenance to achieve production objectives. This role coordinates production activities with other departments to ensure goals are met in a timely and cost-effective manner. The supervisor will also manage vacancies, monitor shift performance, accurately enter production data, and update communication boards to keep the team informed. They will lead employee start-up meetings, work to improve efficiencies, minimize overtime and expenses, and promote shop floor organization and lean techniques like 5S. The supervisor acts as the first point of contact for operators facing mechanical or production issues, directing maintenance for troubleshooting and preventative maintenance. They may also conduct tool store inventory reviews and prepare employee work hours for payroll.

Requirements

  • 3 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Reliable with good attendance and work ethic is a must.
  • Previous experience working in a Lean environment; embraces continuous improvement.
  • Self-directed team player.
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Flexibility to work multiple shifts.

Nice To Haves

  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt Certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership and training to accomplish production objectives for Safety, Quality, Production, Packaging, and Maintenance.
  • Coordinates production activities with other departments to ensure production goals/objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Works with the operations team to ensure vacancies are covered for any planned/unplanned absences.
  • Establishes and monitors shift performance for safety, quality, and production standards.
  • Enters production data accurately into the system to measure and monitor KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) around efficiencies, downtime, inventory, and overall production.
  • Updates communication boards to keep production floor team members informed about safety, quality, and efficiency metrics.
  • Leads employee start-up meetings.
  • Works with other team members to control and improve efficiencies, and minimize labor overtime, downtime, and repair expenses.
  • Implements cost-effective systems as necessary.
  • Promotes shop floor organization and plant housekeeping with employees, utilizing lean techniques such as 5S with shift personnel.
  • Acts as the first point of contact for operators regarding mechanical failure or production issues; directs maintenance employees to troubleshoot mechanical problems and perform preventative maintenance.
  • May conduct tool store inventory reviews to ensure proper tools and/or parts are available for use.
  • Prepares and reviews employees worked hours for submission to payroll.
