About The Position

The Production Supervisor provides direction and instruction to ensure operational objectives and work plans are met in the Packaging department. The role oversees production-floor workflow, staffing, personnel assignments, productivity, line clearance, paperwork, cleanliness, cross-training, employee performance, and production downtime. The position reports to an Assistant or Production Manager and has Line Leads as direct reports. The work is performed in a warehouse environment with changing temperatures.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to prioritize and understand special projects.
Ability to understand, enforce, and follow company policies and procedures.
Familiarity with working with temporary staffing agencies.
Basic computer skills using Microsoft Office and software applications.
Good leadership skills.

Nice To Haves

Prior supervisory experience.
Prior experience in a fast-paced production environment.

Responsibilities

Communicates daily production workflow processes and priorities to Line Leads.
Contacts temporary staffing agencies daily to ensure personnel labor needs are met.
Records and reports hours worked by full-time and temporary staff, and assigns weekly schedules, including days off.
Monitors personnel productivity.
Handles line clearance before and after each changeover.
Gathers and reviews daily paperwork from Line Leads regarding machine operations.
Ensures cleanliness throughout the Packaging operation.
Assigns line workers to machines and jobs each day.
Coordinates cross-training of line workers on various job duties.
Prepares annual employee performance evaluations with input from Line Leads.
Coaches and counsels employees and takes disciplinary action as required in conjunction with the Assistant Production Manager.
Participates in production meetings.
Reviews daily production downtime for material or labor issues.
Assists with inventory control to ensure inventory is available for each project.
Assists in assigning products to production lines.
