Production Supervisor - 3rd Shift
About The Position
The Production Supervisor provides leadership to production personnel on the operating floor at Hood Container Corporation’s Wilmington, North Carolina plant, demonstrating a commitment to safety and quality. The 3rd-shift supervisor coaches, trains, and develops direct reports in safety, quality, production, problem solving, and the technical skills needed to operate the production floor. The role communicates and works with department managers, the Production team, and Customer Service to meet quality and on-time production goals. It also supports production efficiency, employee development, equipment upkeep, and accurate production reporting.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Five or more years of leadership experience.
- Customer service-related experience, or equivalent training and experience in other plant operations.
- Ability to take initiative, maintain confidentiality, meet deadlines, and work in a team environment.
- Basic computer experience, including word processing, Excel, and PowerPoint.

- Previous supervisory experience in a manufacturing or corrugated industry.
Responsibilities
- Work with Safety to support excellence within the plant.
- Lead processes that achieve quality initiatives, low costs, and the best quality, using KPIs.
- Minimize department waste through awareness, training, and accountability.
- Drive 5S initiatives and housekeeping.
- Increase department throughput by improving uptime and production speeds.
- Work with Maintenance to maintain machine cleanliness, preventive maintenance schedules, and work orders.
- Participate in new-item meetings with Customer Service, Design, Sales, and Production.
- Review and analyze production reports for accuracy.
- Coach and develop employees to maximize effectiveness.
- Train and mentor hourly employees to achieve production goals.
- Analyze daily, weekly, and monthly production statistics to improve quality and efficiency.
- Maintain performance boards daily.
- Perform other related duties as required or assigned.
