About The Position

Upstate Niagara Cooperative is seeking a Production Supervisor to direct day-to-day production and sanitation operations within the limits of company authority, policies, and procedures. The role oversees activities related to Production, Maintenance, and Quality and works with plant leaders and functional managers to meet production and cooler objectives. The supervisor leads and develops employees, coordinates production activities, promotes safe and quality work, and supports compliance, employee training, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

High school diploma.
Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate people.
Demonstrated ability to evaluate the performance of direct reports.
Ability to think analytically.
Ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing.
Ability to manage time effectively.
Enthusiasm, initiative, pride in work, and commitment to the organization and its mission.
Good computer skills, including proficiency in MS Windows, Word, and Excel.
Good human relations skills and ability to work well with others as a team member.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or a business discipline.
Prior experience in dairy or food manufacturing and/or warehousing.

Responsibilities

Achieve established department goals for production volume, quality, safety, and cost reduction.
Provide leadership and guidance to employees, support their development, and establish a positive working atmosphere.
Assist employees with training on SAP programs and processes.
Coordinate daily production activities to meet business objectives.
Communicate non-compliances promptly to appropriate managers for corrective action.
Assign employee responsibilities to meet planned production schedules and ensure proper equipment repair and operating techniques.
Monitor employee morale and work to resolve departmental problems.
Maintain departmental employee records, including time sheets, absences, tardiness, overtime, and safety records.
Ensure standard operating procedures for job functions are accurate and up to date.
Manage the assigned safety program and conduct accident investigations as needed.
Oversee production employee job performance, including safety, orientation, training, and discipline.
Ensure compliance with employee relations policies and programs.
Monitor and enforce company policies and formulations.
Instruct and train current and future employees as needed.
Coordinate with purchasing to monitor inventory and variance control for packaging and processing supplies.
Lead continuous improvement activities to improve safety losses, performance results, processes, and costs.
Work with the Safety Manager on safety program compliance, accident investigations, preventative audits, and training.
Work with the quality team on quality standards, including titrations, the master sanitation schedule, preventative maintenance and quality work orders, and training.
Work with Human Resources and plant management on payroll, time and attendance, employee morale, training, and company policies and procedures.
Work with the Plant Superintendent and Production Manager to meet product quality, machine efficiency, employee productivity, staffing, and training goals.
Work with the Plant Superintendent and Cooler Manager to meet customer fill-rate, cooler-shrink, and cooler-rotation goals.
