About The Position

The Production Supervisor will be working in our Kitchener, ON cookie plant that produces millions of cookies daily! This state-of-the-art facility operates with 5 production lines and possesses a strong team-oriented culture. The role of the Production Supervisor is to provide front-line leadership in a complex food manufacturing environment and drive results through team engagement, clear communication, and effective execution to a diverse work force. Supervisors are responsible for enforcing compliance and driving accountability with company policies, procedures, and operational standards. Success is achieved by fostering collaboration, encouraging open communication, and leading change initiatives.

Requirements

  • College or university degree is preferred, or equivalent work experience
  • 2 or more years of people leadership experience required.
  • Experience with continuous improvement tools; such as, lean, theory of constraints, value stream mapping, root cause analysis
  • Strong knowledge of OHSA (Occupational Health & Safety Act), ESA (Ontario Employment Standards Act), and GMPs
  • Effective use of KPI’s and data analysis to drive results
  • Flexibility to work a rotational shift schedule of 8 hours or more, including days, afternoons, or nights, and weekends as needed.
  • Effective communication and team building skills
  • Proficient Microsoft Office and experience with ERP systems
  • Continuous improvement mindset and demonstrates cost management/reduction experience
  • Ability to multi-task, handling projects and meeting deadlines in a complex manufacturing environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills demonstrating dignity, respect, professionalism and commitment

Nice To Haves

  • That experience being in a high-speed CPG or food/beverage manufacturing environment is an asset.
  • Understanding of sanitation, food handling, and food safety practices in a manufacturing environment preferred

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with Ontario Health and Safety Act regulations
  • Complete thorough incident investigations and implement corrective actions to reduce or eliminate safety risks.
  • Conduct regular workplace inspections and proactively address hazards
  • Ensure product quality and food safety requirements are met through verification of quality checks and lot tracking.
  • Adhere to and enforce food safety and quality standards, including HACCP practices
  • Establish and sustain positive employee relations through effective communication
  • Provide, assign and oversee formal training as required to ensure an effective and efficient work force.
  • Foster a collaborative environment focused on problem-solving and innovation
  • Support positive employee and labor relations in a Union environment.
  • Provide effective, timely and fair performance and discipline feedback and manage employee timesheets, schedules and PTO requests.
  • Maintain a strong floor presence (70%) to oversee daily production
  • Ensure accurate and timely inventory records are entered into the information system
  • Conduct detailed root cause investigations for large deviations from target.
  • Support operational deliverables as assigned within the planning, assessment, installation and testing of new equipment, methods and/or products.
  • Partner with maintenance to assistance in troubleshooting of unplanned breakdowns, prioritize and resource continuous reduction of overall plant downtime.
  • Facilitate effective sharing of information across work teams, business areas, and functional areas.
  • Work and/or attend meetings during other shifts (including off-shifts and/or weekends) as necessary.
