About The Position

Neogen is seeking a Production Supervisor I to lead second-shift manufacturing operations at our Sample Handling facility. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for ensuring products are manufactured, filled, packaged, labeled, and palletized safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved batch records, standard operating procedures, and applicable compliance requirements. The Production Supervisor I will train and supervise manufacturing employees, coordinate daily production activities, monitor performance metrics, troubleshoot equipment, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • At least five years of related experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, procedures, and production workflows.
  • Previous experience supervising employees in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees and management regarding daily operations and the department’s future development.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret operating procedures, regulatory documents, technical instructions, and business reports.
  • Ability to respond professionally to questions or concerns from employees, customers, regulatory agencies, and members of the business community.
  • Ability to present information effectively to employees and all levels of management.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to collect information, establish facts, identify root causes, and reach sound conclusions.
  • Working knowledge of basic mathematics, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and averaging.
  • Proficiency with Windows-based computers, Microsoft Office, and manufacturing resource planning (MRP) systems.
  • Ability to interpret technical instructions presented in written, mathematical, or diagram form.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise second-shift manufacturing operations according to approved batch records and standard operating procedures.
  • Help develop and coordinate production schedules to meet operational requirements.
  • Oversee the filling, packaging, labeling, and palletizing of manufactured products.
  • Ensure employees consistently follow written procedures, quality standards, and applicable compliance requirements.
  • Train, coach, and supervise manufacturing personnel.
  • Participate in the recruitment, interviewing, and selection of manufacturing employees.
  • Monitor labor, production time, output, and other performance metrics to identify opportunities for greater efficiency.
  • Maintain the organization and inventory control of raw materials in the warehouse.
  • Assist with physical inventory counts and inventory reconciliation activities.
  • Oversee the cleaning and sanitation of manufacturing equipment, production areas, the facility, and surrounding grounds.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot manufacturing equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Assist with the evaluation, selection, and installation of new manufacturing equipment.
  • Provide hands-on manufacturing support as operational needs require.
  • Serve as backup to the Manufacturing Manager during their absence.
  • Support other departments and perform additional duties as assigned by management.
