About The Position

Trystar is seeking a Production Supervisor for the Fabrication department on the 2nd shift. This role is responsible for leading and guiding teams to meet customer expectations and achieve growth plans, adhering to the company's values and guiding principles. The Fabrication Production Supervisor will oversee daily operations, manage the production schedule, and utilize the Epicor MRP system for efficient resource planning and inventory control. This position plays a key role in ensuring the timely and cost-effective fabrication of components and assemblies while maintaining high-quality standards. The supervisor will lead production associates, implement effective manufacturing processes, utilize Lean & Six Sigma concepts to foster a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement, and work towards achieving key performance metrics and customer satisfaction. This position reports directly to the Value Stream Manager.

Requirements

  • Two years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent technical education and relevant experience may be considered.
  • Computer literacy, including MS Word, Excel, and MRP transactions (Epicor preferred)
  • Ability to work department shift hours and relevant overtime with the team

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and lead the fabrication team, providing direction and support to achieve production targets and quality objectives.
  • Utilize the Epicor MRP system to plan and schedule production activities, ensuring optimized resource utilization and timely delivery of products.
  • Collaborate with procurement and supply chain teams to manage material requirements, optimize inventory levels, and maintain an accurate bill of materials (BOM) within the Epicor MRP system.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive production schedule based on customer orders, sales forecasts, and material availability, ensuring on-time delivery of fabricated components.
  • Monitor the fabrication process to ensure compliance with engineering specifications and quality standards. Implement corrective actions to address any deviations.
  • Assign tasks and projects to fabrication team members based on their skills and availability, maintaining a balanced workload and maximizing productivity.
  • Coordinate with maintenance personnel to ensure proper upkeep and functioning of fabrication equipment, minimizing downtime and delays.
  • Enforce safety protocols and best practices to maintain a safe working environment for fabrication personnel. Be accountable for operating a safe working environment for all employees, including leading by example, on-the-spot rectification of safety hazards, and timely incident reporting.
  • Continuously evaluate fabrication processes and procedures, seeking opportunities for improvement in efficiency, productivity, and cost-effectiveness. Implement Lean manufacturing principles where applicable.
  • Maintain accurate records of production data, material usage, and production costs within the Epicor MRP system.
  • Generate regular production reports and performance metrics using the Epicor MRP system to assess productivity, track KPIs, and identify areas for improvement.
  • Create a culture of accountability and empowerment in the production environment.
  • Guide Team Leads and team to ensure effective cross-training for the production workforce, including backups from other areas, to assure a continuously operating and smooth-running department.
  • Recognize employees for results & behaviors that support Trystar's values & principles that lead to customer satisfaction.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance. Partner with HR Department in rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints, resolving problems, and treating all employees’ fairly.
  • Be accountable to the Value Stream Manager for performance of the department shift around metrics covering Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Inventory, and People.
  • Be a change agent within the department, driving continuous improvement and elimination of waste.
  • Develop knowledge of products, processes, equipment, and quality standards to develop/update standard work procedures and cross train department production employees.
  • Instill and maintain a positive can-do team atmosphere within the department; hold regular team meetings, assigning team members tasks, and coordinating support services needed outside the team. Utilize the Tier Accountability Meetings and Team Improvement Boards to ensure results.
  • Escalate major issues and opportunities to Value Stream Managers with proposed solutions and participate in execution of follow-on actions.
  • Be responsible for all aspects of managing the department shift to include developing, coaching & mentoring Team Leads & associates, ensure that team input is used to thoroughly evaluate decisions, to be rapidly implemented.
  • Perform employment decisions related to associates, and performance assessment of all direct reports, Team Leads, and associates.
  • Ownership of compliance and accuracy for values and proper usage of the ERP / MRP system.
  • Facilitate and support the identification, selection, and prioritization of process improvement projects.
