Hourly Student Employment - Production Services Technicians
About The Position
The ECU Department of Student Life is seeking several Central Reservations Office (CRO) Production Services Technicians. Student Technicians are part-time workers who assist with and support the technical functions of the Main Student Center. A Student Technician may be directly supervised by a professional member of Production Services or the Central Reservations Office. The role combines administrative duties, technical event support, customer service, facility security, university representation, and teamwork. Student employees may also develop competencies including effective communication, accountability, integrity, professionalism, conflict resolution, problem solving, effective reasoning, initiative, organizing, planning, teamwork, adaptability, resiliency, and technical skill.
Responsibilities
- Complete required paperwork, forms, and other administrative tasks; attend scheduled shifts and follow staff manual protocols.
- Operate portable and outdoor sound systems, basic LCD projectors, laptop setups, and microphone setups.
- Set up and operate theater projection, sound, and lighting equipment.
- Acknowledge and greet students, staff, faculty, and University guests; assist with campus navigation and keep the supervisor informed.
- Help create a welcoming environment, document incidents, and follow training and staff manual protocols.
- Recognize situations beyond the scope of CRO Production Services Technicians.
- Support performer and volunteer safety during events; enforce facility policies and capacity limits; deter theft; and follow emergency evacuation and lockdown procedures.
- Serve as a positive role model and provide for the needs of students, staff, faculty, and University guests.
- Use care with social media tags and posts and represent Student Involvement and Leadership and East Carolina University positively.
- Attend training sessions, support other staff, assist when needed, and maintain positive communication with staff and Student Life employees.
