About The Position

This role involves assisting in production scheduling for a given production work center, including identifying need dates for all part shortages and projecting long-term high-level rate needs for the department. The Production Scheduler will create a rate-based schedule for their hardware, and define/track constraints across their build for the next 6+ missions. They will use an established schedule to create and generate stakeholder buy-in on various scenarios to determine optimal hardware allocation between new/refurb hardware that take into account customer needs, current mission manifest, and customer quality requirements. The role also involves working with production teams to set, track, and execute daily and weekly goals for the work center that take into account personnel and equipment constraints but support overall rate targets. Building strong relationships with internal suppliers and establishing high-accuracy means of communication for both estimated hardware needs and completion dates is crucial. The scheduler will manage the scheduling and prioritization of their hardware at shared resources that are common to multiple departments at SpaceX, actively negotiating with peers in other departments for correct overall priority, and seeking creative solutions that drive the optimal business outcome. Monitoring MRP systems and leveraging SQL Queries to identify hardware shortages for upcoming builds and leading the charge to pull this hardware into the production area is also a key responsibility. The role includes identifying, developing, and implementing opportunities for increased scheduling automation across the Starship Booster Manufacturing department with a focus on reducing the manual operations required to develop, track, and update overall schedules. Driving down near-term and future schedule risk by conducting work-center level capacity analysis, identifying model and communication gaps that cause schedule slips, and leading initiatives (reactive and proactive) that mitigate those risks is essential. The position also involves leading efforts to uncover root-cause and develop permanent resolution on issues found during product builds as required to eliminate internal and external blockers to deliver product on time, and driving conversations around assembly-level and integration misalignment. Finally, identifying and supporting improvement opportunities for product yield, quality, safety, cost and team efficiency is part of the role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 1+ years of manufacturing scheduling, planning or operations; OR 3+ years of professional experience with manufacturing scheduling, planning or operations in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience using ERP/MRP systems in a production environment.
