About The Position

The Production Scheduler is responsible for controlling and managing all processing activities and assets on the shop floor, including the release of work orders, management of MRP related activities, and scheduling of resource assets utilizing online ERP systems. This individual will communicate and work closely with the district management, sales staff, corporate processing group, warehouse personnel, truck scheduling personnel, corporate procurement, inventory management, and planners/schedulers from other districts.

Requirements

  • 2 years minimum of warehouse experience, processing specialist, salesperson, supervisor, or inventory control clerk.
  • Considerable computer experience with MS Word, Excel, and Power Point and database management.
  • Analysis of work center capacities, staff resources, and material availability.
  • Overall knowledge of warehouse operations.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, material specifications, machine characteristics and capabilities.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Strong math skills.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Self-starter.
  • Must pass a criminal background check and drug test.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains shop floor calendar, work center set ups for the district, and the resource units update as necessary for capacity requirements planning.
  • Generates work orders for sales orders on a request basis for release to the shop floor. The Production Scheduler will be responsible for the batch report that generates work orders to satisfy will call orders.
  • Works with Supervisors to ensure effective transitions across all shifts, and balancing workloads.
  • Interacts with sales team should component shortages impact customer deliveries.
  • Releases work orders/blueprints using online system to the shop floor for display/selection at appropriate workstations based on: Component availability, calculated start dates, and equipment backlogs.
  • Responds to work order change requests from sales staff as needed.
  • Coordinates work order changes with machine operators/supervisors as required.
  • Approves all work order changes and expedites once detail records are created through batch generation.
  • Expedites overdue orders.
  • Updates work order routings in response to equipment downtime to meet customer requirements.
  • Works closely with truck scheduling personnel to ensure on-time delivery of customer orders.
  • Manages work centers/machine workloads based on calculated start dates.
  • Schedules work order equipment assignments as appropriate to balance workload and facilitate customer orders.
  • Monitors all hold codes for work orders.
  • Publishes and maintains equipment backlog schedules daily.
  • Monitors work orders for planned hours versus actual hours.
