About The Position

Coordinate and expedite the flow of work and materials within or between departments of TCOM according to production schedule. Duties include generating, reviewing and distributing production, work, and shipment schedules; conferring with department supervisors to determine progress of work and completion dates; pricing and estimating costs for proposal efforts, earned value inputs for all assigned programs; and compiling reports on progress of work, forecasting and maintaining required inventory levels, costs, and devising solutions to production problems. With little assistance from others, devise solutions for variances to the production schedule and present to management. Coordinate and lead other lower classified planners during production and material close out phases of projects. Demonstrate highest levels of proficiency in all planning functions and possess sufficient knowledge of and familiarity with planning, cost movements and material control procedures to assist Planning Supervisor in training and coaching lower classified planners on best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or equivalent amount of education and experience.
  • Two to five years of project planning and integrated scheduling (IMS) experience with Microsoft Project 2003 (Professional preferred).
  • Understanding of a product development process in a business or engineering environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Analytical and organizational skills required.
  • Able to be diplomatically persuasive or assertive when necessary.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Earned Value Management Systems or Cost and Schedule Integration systems.
  • Experience with financial management.
  • Experience with other financial tools such as PS8 and Costpoint.

Responsibilities

  • Compile reports on progress of work, forecasting and maintaining required inventory levels, costs, and devising solutions to production problems.
  • Devise solutions for variances to the production schedule and present to management with little assistance.
  • Coordinate and lead other lower classified planners during production and material close out phases of projects.
  • Assist Planning Supervisor in training and coaching lower classified planners on best practices.
  • Observe, receive, and obtain information from all relevant sources, including instructions, drawings, specifications, schedules, invoices, or flow charts.
  • Gather information from a variety of departments including Manufacturing, Engineering, Accounting, Programs, Marketing, Logistics, Quality Assurance, and/or Contracts.
  • Develop and manage program plans and schedules with limited supervision.
  • Communicate with supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates via telephone, written form, email, or in person.
  • Confer with engineering, manufacturing, managerial or supervisory personnel.
  • Provide direction and coach lower classified personnel.
  • Conduct or attend staff, planning, production and program meetings and relay updated relevant information to the appropriate parties.
  • Direct and coordinate activities of work engaged in the fabrication, assembly, and testing of material.
  • Use computers to enter, access, or retrieve data, including email, Scheduling software such as MS Project and Project Scheduler, MS Office, and ERP systems.
  • Develop and maintain Integrated Master Plans (IMP) and Integrated Master Schedules (IMS) for programs using Microsoft Project.
  • Work closely with Program Managers and Control Account/Task Managers to ensure timely program execution.
  • Support Programs and Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) by providing cost and schedule integration data to Finance.
  • Perform program plan baseline change control, collection and tracking of performance, performing critical path analysis and assisting with variance analyses.
  • Support financial planning and analysis.
  • Participate in metrics analysis & reporting and assist in assessing risks and risk abatement recommendations.
  • Provide training, as needed, to Control Account Managers (CAMs) and/or team members.
  • Provide analysis and recommendations regarding corrective action measures or changes regarding schedule revisions, manpower adjustments, funding allocations and manpower requirements to ensure that programs meet or exceed schedule commitments.
  • Interface with Program Managers, Control Account Managers, Functional Managers, Financial Analysts and Engineers.
  • Perform follow-up, check status of, and expedite, where necessary, any information needed to complete tasks assigned.
  • Monitor materials or supplies during production efforts then update schedules and earned value accordingly.
  • Analyze and resolve work problems or assist workers or other functional groups in solving work problems and issues.
  • Develop control feedback procedures to measure actual performance versus planned performance.
  • Prepare variance reports.
  • Analyze results and recommend recovery plans.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
