Production Quality Intern (Summer 2027)
About The Position
Astranis is building the next generation of smaller, lower-cost telecommunications satellites to bring the world online. This role is for a Production Quality Intern for Summer 2027. The intern will work with Design, Production, Quality, and Test engineering teams to develop inspection and verification procedures, support root cause analysis for non-conformance issues, and collaborate with cross-functional teams for continuous improvement in quality. The role also involves supporting process and systems development, and creating dashboards and metrics to monitor factory health. Astranis is a well-funded team that moves fast, and prior space experience is not required, but a passion for hardware development and manufacturing systems is essential. Requirements
- A passion for hardware development and manufacturing systems, including working in a fast-paced environment and hands-on design and development
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Must be onsite 5 days a week
- U.S. Citizenship, Lawful Permanent Residency, or Refugee/Asylee Status Required
Nice To Haves
- Previous internship or coursework experience in a similar role
- Experience with quality management systems or hardware manufacturing
- Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL
- Direct electrical or mechanical design experience
- Demonstrated ability to debug hardware and software problems under time pressure
Responsibilities
- Work with Design, Production, Quality, and Test engineering teams to develop inspection and verifications procedures
- Support root cause analysis efforts and implement corrective actions to mitigate non-conformance issues
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather relevant data and insights for continuous improvement in quality
- Support process and systems development to improve production quality
- Develop dashboards, metrics, and visuals to help identify and monitor factory health
