About The Position

This position is responsible for the planning and scheduling to ensure parts are available to meet customer delivery requirements and avoid manufacturing delays in accordance with company policies and procedures. The role involves reviewing demand for upcoming planned order requirements, developing production schedules for the shop floor to ensure on-time delivery, and running daily/weekly SAP reports to provide status updates to management and other departments. The Production Planner will also be responsible for the daily release of production orders, attending production meetings, collaborating with Order Management on sales orders and shipping dates, and working with shop floor supervisors on capacity reports and adjustments. Additionally, the role requires working with management on planning strategies to reduce costs and lead times, cross-training with team members, coordinating shipping schedules with the shipping department, and interfacing with project management, sales, and engineering to determine material release dates. The position also promotes and participates in safety initiatives.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience or Bachelor's Degree in Business or Supply Chain Management.
  • Knowledge of common manufacturing processes required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication along with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office and ERP software (SAP preferred).
  • Knowledgeable with ISO quality requirements, OSHA standards, and Kaizen or lean manufacturing principles.

Responsibilities

  • Review demand for upcoming planned order requirements.
  • Develop a production schedule for the shop floor to ensure on time delivery.
  • Run daily and weekly SAP reports to provide summary information to management and departments outside of Operations on manufacturing and sales order status along with our delivery capabilities.
  • Ensure the daily release of production orders to facilitate the production floor and the purchase of raw material.
  • Attend and actively participate in production meetings.
  • Work with Order Management on new sales orders as well as communicating changes in estimated shipping dates of existing orders.
  • Work with shop floor supervisor to develop and review capacity report and adjust orders to address either under or over capacity situations. Then schedule orders accordingly to your analysis.
  • Work with his / her manager on planning strategies that reduce costs and/or lead-time.
  • Work with other members of the team to cross train each other to provide backup capabilities for each other.
  • Work with the shipping department to set up shipping schedules for large items to meet customer shipment requirements.
  • Interface with project management, sales, and engineering to determine material release dates required for products.
  • Promotes and participates in safety initiatives, including safety programs, training, accident investigations, accident prevention/corrective action, and setting safe work practices within the department.
