About The Position

The Production Planner optimizes production activities based on priorities, production constraints, customer orders, sales forecasts, and safety stock levels. This person confirms delivery dates with the sales team, builds realistic production schedules, monitors work in progress, and adjusts plans as needed to meet quality, cost, and delivery expectations. The role is central to maintaining accurate production data in the ERP system and contributes actively to strategic projects related to new ERP implementation and process improvement in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience in production planning or master planning in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of MRP, bills of materials (BOM), capacity planning, and inventory management.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and functions such as VLOOKUP.
  • Hands-on experience working with ERP systems and in supply chain, planning, and production scheduling environments.
  • Ability to work comfortably in environments with ambiguity, change, and evolving systems.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in production control and production planning/scheduling.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Industrial Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
  • Knowledge or experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Navision, Oracle, or JDE (asset).
  • Experience in project management or participation in system or process transformation projects (asset).
  • Comfort working with complex data and performing analysis to support decision-making.
  • Strong analytical mindset, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Interest in process mapping, continuous improvement, and optimization of planning systems.

Responsibilities

  • Plan production activities optimally by considering priorities, production constraints, sales orders, sales forecasts, and safety stock levels.
  • Confirm delivery dates with the sales team and develop realistic, achievable production schedules.
  • Supervise the scheduling, sequencing, and release of work orders, ensuring that workload levels for each production cell allow supervisors to plan staffing effectively.
  • Monitor work in progress, coordinate activities, and communicate progress regularly to the relevant departments, including logistics, transportation, shipping, and sales.
  • Adjust production plans as needed or revise delivery dates based on actual production progress.
  • Work collaboratively with engineering, purchasing, production, and sales teams to meet customer requirements in terms of quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Ensure the integrity of production-related parameters in the ERP system, including inventory, MRP data, quantities produced, and bills of materials (BOM), and communicate any discrepancies to the appropriate stakeholders.
  • Manage safety stock levels efficiently and establish suitable planning strategies for different product families.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of planning processes, production control, and data management within the ERP.
  • Participate in strategic initiatives related to the implementation or optimization of new ERP systems and process mapping.
