CHAOS Industries•El Segundo, CA
•$100,000 - $135,000•Onsite

About The Position

CHAOS Industries is hiring a Production Planner to manage production work order release, queue management, and execution flow in radar and RF manufacturing environments. The role coordinates Manufacturing Engineering, Lab Supervisors, Production Leads, and Inventory/Material Control to ensure work orders are complete, kitted, technically valid, and configuration-controlled before release. The planner maintains Line of Balance tracking, monitors production against planned rates and milestones, identifies schedule and capacity risks, and provides performance reporting to Operations and Program leadership. The position also coordinates material readiness and kitting, verifies as-built and configuration documentation, supports production scheduling reviews, and helps manage rework, milestone builds, and surge production events. The role requires experience with production scheduling or control, work orders in ERP and/or MES systems, and Line of Balance tracking. CHAOS Industries describes itself as a company founded in 2022, headquartered in Los Angeles, with 500+ employees across five global offices.

Requirements

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations Management, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5–7+ years of experience in production scheduling, production control, or manufacturing planning.
  • Experience managing work orders within ERP and/or MES systems.
  • Working knowledge of bills of material (BOM/MBOM), routing structures, revision control, and the work order lifecycle.
  • Experience building and maintaining Line of Balance (LOB) tracking.
  • Strong analytical capability for schedule performance reporting.
  • Ability to coordinate across engineering, production, and inventory teams.
  • U.S. citizenship if required for program access.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in aerospace, defense, electronics, or RF/radar production environments.
  • Experience supporting LRIP or rate-ramp production.
  • Familiarity with serialized hardware tracking, Engineering Change Orders (ECO/ECN), and configuration-controlled products.
  • Experience generating executive-level production performance reporting.
  • Working knowledge of capacity planning concepts, Lean manufacturing principles, and production forecasting tools.
  • Experience with PLM systems integrated with ERP/MES.

Responsibilities

  • Review and release production work orders in alignment with the master production schedule and program milestones.
  • Verify work order revision levels, approved MBOM structure, routing accuracy, and required documentation and travelers.
  • Ensure ECO/ECN changes are incorporated before work order release and coordinate with Manufacturing Engineering to resolve discrepancies or missing requirements.
  • Prevent release of incomplete or non-kitted work orders.
  • Coordinate daily with Manufacturing Engineers, Lab Supervisors, Production Leads, and Inventory/Material Control.
  • Prioritize and sequence work orders according to material readiness, capacity constraints, test station availability, and program deadlines.
  • Monitor work-in-progress levels and aging; identify and escalate bottlenecks that affect throughput or milestone delivery.
  • Support controlled reprioritization when program or leadership direction changes.
  • Develop and maintain Line of Balance tracking across radar subsystem and system-level builds.
  • Monitor build progression against planned rates and milestone commitments, identify planned-versus-actual variances, and provide early warning of schedule slip or capacity shortfall.
  • Support rate-ramp analysis and LRIP-to-FRP transition tracking.
  • Generate and maintain production schedule performance reports covering work order release versus plan, completion status versus required dates, cycle time, WIP aging, and schedule adherence.
  • Analyze late starts, late completions, rework-driven delays, and material-driven delays; support executive and program-level reporting.
  • Ensure ERP/MES schedule data integrity.
  • Coordinate with Inventory and Material Control to confirm full kit availability before work order release; validate shortages, substitutions, and serialized component allocation.
  • Ensure traceability-controlled hardware is properly staged and escalate material risks affecting Line of Balance.
  • Verify as-built documentation and traveler completion, serial number tracking, substitutions, and deviations; confirm required inspections and quality checkpoints are complete.
  • Support configuration audits and program reviews.
  • Lead or support daily production scheduling reviews and communicate schedule status, risks, and mitigation plans to Operations leadership.
  • Coordinate rework prioritization without destabilizing production flow and support milestone builds and surge production events.
