About The Position

The Production Worker / Packaging Operator is responsible for performing two primary functions: the bagging operation and the baler operation. The operator must maintain the ability to perform both functions as determined by the Shift Leads. This role involves operating machinery productively while adhering to safety guidelines, assisting other production areas as needed, moving and wrapping completed products, and maintaining a clean workstation. The position requires lifting up to 50 lbs and standing for a minimum of 7 hours per day. The operator will also assist Shift Leads with starting and stopping pellet mills and communicating any material problems.

Requirements

Will require good eye, hand, and foot coordination.
Will need to pass the company forklift training.
Required to read and interpret scales.
Requires mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills to adjust the weight and timing of baler and various other simple maintenance problems.
Requires the ability to do simple math calculations.
Must maintain the ability to perform both bagging and baler functions.
Lifting up to 50 lbs.
Standing for a minimum of 7 hours per day.

Nice To Haves

High School diploma or GED preferred.
Prior forklift and production line experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Operate machinery in a productive manner using the established safety guidelines and procedures.
Responsible for assisting other production areas, as needed.
Move and wrap completed products.
Assist the Shift Leads to start and stop the pellet mills.
Communicate any moisture or material problems to Shift Lead.
Maintain a clean workstation.
Operate a variety of machinery, primarily bagging and baler machines, shrink wrapping machines, forklifts, pallet jack, and bag sealer.
Stacking bags on pallets, putting covers on pallets and placing finished goods in the correct warehouse location.
Accurately complete the Bagger production report, filling pellet sample cups every ton for quality control information, and tagging pallets with Quality Control tag with initials, date, ton number, and the shift the pallet was completed.
Stacking bales on pallets, sealing bales with an iron, and wrapping pallets.
Accurately complete the Baler Operator production report, checking bale weight, and recording information on various reports and quality control tags.
Other duties as assigned.
